Düsseldorf: TRE BICCHIERI GAMBERO ROSSO and PROWEIN 2017

We will happy to welcome you in Düsseldorf to the TRE BICCHIERI on 18th March and to the PROWEIN from 19th to 21st March 2017

MONTALBERA TAKES IT ALL

THE “3 GLASSES” AWARDED BY GAMBERO ROSSO TO THE 2015 RUCHÈ LA TRADIZIONE DI CASTAGNOLE MONFERRATO REPRESENT THE WINE’S FIRST GREAT RECOGNITION.

THE 2015 RUCHÈ LACCENTO HAS ALSO WON THE AWARD FOR BEST ITALIAN RED WINE OVERALL WITH 99 POINTS ASSIGNED TO IT BY THE ANNUAL CATALOGUE OF BEST ITALIAN WINES BY LUCA MARONI.

THE 2013 BARBERA D’ASTI LEQUILIBRIO HAS ALSO OBTAINED EXCELLENT RESULTS: A GOLD MEDAL AT THE BERLINER WEIN TROPHY AND 96 POINTS IN THE ANNUAL CATALOGUE OF BEST ITALIAN WINES BY LUCA MARONI.

With the help of the fantastic 2015 harvest, the Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato d.o.c.g. conquers the Tre Bicchieri (three glasses) grade, thanks to Montalbera, its flagstaff producer, that “soars in excellence” above all its contenders with its label Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG LA TRADIZIONE, conquering the prestigious TRE BICCHIERI and bringing the wine name down to history.

“It is with immense pleasure that we receive this extremely important recognition” – states Franco Morando, “The TRE BICCHIERI ROSSI are an earned result that arrives after almost a decade of wait, and that prizes all of us for the daily work, passion, and dedication to Piedmont’s wine world, and particularly on the continuous quality development of the Ruchè vineyards. The admirable quality consistency, the professionality and the constant research and evolution of the native Ruchè wine has brought us to become the #1 producers of Ruchè to be awarded the “three glasses”. We are proud to be ambassadors of Ruchè in the world”.

The Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, rare native wine of the Piedmont region, is produced in a limited area of the Monferrato and Asti districts, in only seven towns, with the leader of the pack being Castagnole Monferrato that stands out for its hills kissed by the sun. Calcareous, dry lands that make the territory ideal for cultivation of this precious native fruit.

From time immemorial only present in the Asti area, the wine is by all means native of Asti. In 2010 the DOCG (controlled and guaranteed designation of origin) appellation was assigned to it, in further recognition of the high quality of this rare native wine.

Ruchè DOCG La Tradizione 2015

La Tradizione 2015 is a rare native wine of Piedmont, 100% naturally processed. It has a flashy red color with purplish reflections in its youth, tending towards maroon when aged. Aromatic with unique notes of rose and red fruit, and a fascinating spicy note of pepper; on the palate it is rich in pulp, with a long strong finish and a familiar softness. Harmony and elegance, as well as structure, united by a balance of infinite pleasure.

Ruchè DOCG Laccento 2015

With a precise and strict thinning of the grapes in the first months of summer, an accurate selection of overripe fruits, and a “little” blend with grapes dried directly in the vineyard, MONTALBERA puts the accent (“Laccento” meaning, in fact, the accent) on the É in Ruchè.

It has an intense ruby color with purplish reflections, an intriguing scent with floral flavors, notes of rose petals and berries. A delicate and at the same time strong taste, pleasantly aromatic, soft and elegant.

Laccento has recently been awarded with a score of 99 points, the best possible, in the annual catalogue of Best Italian Wines by the sensorialist Luca Maroni, who acknowledged it as “Best red wine overall”.

Barbera d’Asti DOCG Lequilibrio 2013

The Barbera d'Asti DOCG Lequilibrio had birth with the 2008 harvest. It is the result of a wise and growingly better aging of the grapes, and the use of advanced cellar techniques. A Barbera that roots from the “old vineyards”, a harvest slightly overripe in order to hue the typically high acidity of the Barbera grapes. The name LEQUILIBRIO derives from an accurate study of the “EQUILIBRIUM” of the wine in wood barriques, tonneaux, and large barrels.

It has an intense ruby red color. At the nose, it expresses a certain energy thanks to notes of small red fruit jam, tobacco, and leather. At the mouth it is powerful, austere, and characterized by a good acidity level contrasting a certain softness, and with a finish of harmonic fruited pleasure.

Gambero Rosso has assigned 1 “bicchiere” to this Barbera, and the annual catalogue of best Italian wines by Luca Maroni has valued it 96 points. Another great recognition has been awarded today with the gold medal at the Berliner Wein Trophy.

For six generations, the Morando family has believed and invested in viticulture in the Piedmont region. In particular it has dedicated itself for numerous years to the promotion of the native wine Ruchè. Thanks to this constant effort, today Montalbera may claim its position among great wine institutions of the Piedmont region. The foundations of this success are solid and distinguishable values, that translate into great sincerity of the wines produced by the farm. Precision and design, interpretation and terroir: these are the basics of Montalbera’s production philosophy. A mentality that places the “wine-fruit” at the center, exalting the unique peculiarities of the vineyards, by interpreting its characteristics and expressing them in multi-colored ways, from steel to wood, from overriping to withering, so as to nurture the multi-faceted personality of each vineyard.
